Is there a way to force Short Order to create sort workfiles only on disk volumes we designate?
The Workfile Getparm for Short Order can be proceduralized as follows:
Procedure
Runsort: Run Sort
Enter Input (specify your input parameters)
Enter Workfile Volume = “your volume”
Enter Workfile Volume = “your volume”
(For each of the 5 SORT workfiles allowed, the PRNAME “Workfile” for the Getparm screen does not change.)
Return Code=Runsort
How do I remove Short Order from my system?
To remove ShortOrder, run SORTCNFG in library @SYSTEM@ on your system volume. You should have a menu pick to “Re-install WANG Sort”. If you do not have the SORTCNFG utility, you can simply SCRATCH the current SORT (ShortOrder) program in @SYSTEM@ on your system volume, and rename WANGSORT in @SYSTEM@ to “SORT”. If you attempt to manually scratch the SORT utility and cannot because it is “in use”, you may need to remove it from the FASTLINK list using the FASTLINK utility supplied by WANG.
I get the message “Program expiration date has been exceeded.”
When I run SORT.
The copy of Short Order that you have installed was a “term lease” copy that you purchased for a specific period of time. That time has elapsed. If you are sure that you have a “perpetual” license to run Short Order, locate the distribution diskette and install that copy to replace the expired copy. If you do not have a perpetual license, remove Short Order and revert back to the free Wang SORT.
